Great testimonials tell people that your product or service is exciting enough that other people want to share your results. Here are seven simple tips to boost your traffic and get reviews:
1. Make it easy
Include an option in newsletters which allows recipients to leave a quick review of their latest experience using a five-point scale, from awful to great.
2. Social Networks
Encourage fans on Facebook, and LinkedIn to leave a review on your page. Many customers will already be active users of these accounts so will be able to easily interact with your business. Or you can ask customers to leave a Facebook review via an email marketing campaign. It’s best, where possible, to ask right after their visit since their experience will be fresh in their mind.
3. Review Websites
Ask customers to rate your business on industry specific review sites such as TripAdvisor, Urbanspoon, Expedia, LateRooms etc, so you appear alongside your competitors should potential customers be searching.
4. Just Ask
Next time a customer gives you a compliment in an email, over the phone, or in-person, request that they leave you that same feedback in an online review.
5. Via Email
Add links to your online review profiles such as Yelp and Google+ in your email signature. Also, consider sending personal emails to your regular customers and VIPs requesting reviews.
6. Offer Incentives for Reviews
Offering a small incentive is a good way to show your appreciation. Monthly giveaways, where you choose one reviewer at random to win a prize, are an effective way to encourage reviews. But refrain from buying reviews from people, as these may not be an honest reflection of their experience and will reflect badly on your business.
7. In-Store Reminder
Something as simple as signage in your place of business, reminding customers to check-in, can prompt people to leave a review. Or business cards which prompt the reader on where best to go to leave their review.
